Charcoal and ink on paper, 2008

Not long before the foreclosure crisis of 2008, President George W. Bush described his vision of a future America: "We're creating...an ownership society in this country, where more Americans than ever will be able to open up their door where they live and say, welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property." These charcoal and ink drawings are based on images of houses in foreclosure, reflecting the relationship between desire and economic security.
