In a continued meditation on the ground, Beck’s photographs of the road are painted and hand woven, referencing the colors used to mark utilities on city streets, color-coded survey markings indicating electricity, gas, water, and sewer. These mysterious tags that look like secret codes hint at what is visible on and below the surface of the ground.
